NOVA BATIDA 2019 // The line-up was fresh, but the sets got hot. Literally.

At the peak of its Indian Summer, Lisbon hosted the 2nd edition of Nova Batida at two of its vibrant cultural hubs: LX Factory and Village Underground.

The line-up was exciting and mainly directed to an English audience, which was massively hungry for a weekend in sunny Lisbon, full of boat parties, surfing and music.

And if we were not prepared for the heat inside the indoor venue on that Friday 13th (a couple of hours later we felt like happy-dehydrated-plants), most of the foreign crowd was all smiles and dancing with beers grasped in their hands.

Despite the heat, last-minute cancellations (Friendly Fires and Octavian) and no Portuguese faces beside our little group of ten, we embraced the motto that “a stranger in life, is a neighbour on the dancefloor” and happily danced together to the sound of the thrilling sets of Jayda G (girl crush alert), Floating Points, Jon Hopkins, John Talabot and Jungle throughout the first two days.

However, the best was yet to come when Hunee presented us with a far from obvious memorable set that was full of disco, African rarities and jubilant vibes. Definitely the best way to beat our Sunday Scaries (our full-time jobs were just a few hours way), and get some fresh air before we bumped into Four Tet on our way to Ben UFO.

Little did we know that two hours later, Mr. Kieran Hebden would take us on a glorious set where we experienced serious chills to the sound of “Lush“, “Only Human” and “Opal“.

We left happy, and feeling lucky to have something that made saying goodbye so hard.

Nova Batida will return in 2020, and so will we.

Your lifetime members of dancing,
